EV Charging Stations – The Japanese Dilemma
The electric vehicle (EV) industry in general and EV charging stations in particular have for the past year been facing a new, unexpected challenge. The source of the challenge is Japan, which is still recovering from the 2011 earthquake and tsunami.
The question of which comes first, the chicken or the egg, is at the heart of the expansion of electric car use. It seems that for the time being, infrastructure is what’s driving the industry, and not the vehicle manufacturers. Maybe it’s surprising, but the electric vehicle charging infrastructure is at a more advanced stage
Recent times have seen an increase in the number of electric vehicles. Many people have been making the transition from the gasoline powered vehicles to those powered by the electric battery. However, the biggest hindrance to the transition has been the limited number of electric vehicle charging points, which has consequently limited the distances that an individual is able to travel. The network of electric vehicle charging stations is definitely not as extensive as that of gasoline stations.
